Thermotransferfolien bilden die Basis der Thermotransfer-Farbbänder. Während des Herstellungsprozesses wird die Farbe auf die Folie aufgetragen und anschließend zu Farbbandrollen gewickelt. Dabei kann die Farbschicht je nach Ausführung entweder auf der Innen- oder Außenseite der Rolle liegen.
