Back-Coating

The reverse-side coating of a ribbon, usually with a thickness of 0.2 µm, consists of a siliconized layer that serves several functions:

• Protects the polyester film from “burn-through” during the printing process

• Reduces the electrostatic charging of the ribbon during repeated winding processes

• Optimizes the sliding properties of the ribbon at the print head
